All students do both hairdressing and beauty units (approx. 10 units)
Students will be assessed in both the classroom and at their work placement (some skills will not be able to be assessed in their work placement e.g. aspects of hairdressing)
Each student will be required to do a minimum of two work placements during the year (more than one employer); placements can be either hairdressing or beauty; or students may choose to do both
Will need to be able to record details of salon visits by assessors
Could have similar assessment but relate to different contexts (e.g. same assessment tools would be used for all students but may be in a beauty and hairdressing context; could be assessed in workplace or classroom)
Assessment tools for SAL database are based on clustering aspects of units together in each assessment; some elements from units can be clustered together and will need to be assessed in the classroom and other can be clustered together and assessed in the workplace or classroom
Will need to assess skills at least three times
The SAL database has different requirements from the logistic workplace assessor database and adjustments will need to be made to the layout, design and features of the database
Decision need to be made on the layout of the database in terms of what features are required
Assessment tools need to be decided and mapped back to units of competency
